Boredom Threshold #2

Boredom Threshold #2

What is ㄅㄆㄇㄈ?

"ㄅㄆㄇㄈ" are pronunciation symbols used in Taiwan, where most children learn them in kindergarten or in their first year of elementary school. If you want to type traditional Chinese characters, "ㄅㄆㄇㄈ" can help you type faster (or slower because the rule of "ㄅㄆㄇㄈ" is very complicated for everyone except Chinese native speakers). Compared to "ㄅㄆㄇㄈ," Pinyin, the pronunciation system used Mainland China, seems much simpler and better-known.

In this comic, I didn't mean to show how boring "ㄅㄆㄇㄈ" was. Instead, I intended to convey how to dampen one's enthusiasm by endlessly excessive repetition, delay of learning process, and avoidance of new materials.

For non-native Chinese speakers:

To pronounce , you may say "bug" and drop the ending consonant g.

To pronounce , you may say "pub" and drop the ending consonant b.

To pronounce , you may say "mud" and drop the ending consonant d.

To pronounce , you may say "fuss" and drop the ending consonant ss.

At last, combine the "bu" in bug, the "pu" in pub, the "mu" in mud with the "fu" in fuss, so you can roughly pronounce ㄅㄆㄇㄈ.

I hope I didn't bore you too much with the above pronunciation instructions.
